Russian exposition at WETEX and Dubai Solar Show 2019



The 21st edition of the leading global Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition was held at Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre on 21-23 October 2019.Every year WETEX serves as the perfect platform to display and discuss all issues related to water conservation, saving natural resources and building a sustainable environment. More than 40,000 specialists from all over the world visited WETEX and Dubai Solar Show in 2019. The event was traditionally organised by DEWA, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

This year Russia was presented by 14 companies within the Russian pavilion. Leading industry manufacturers presented their latest technologies and state-of-the-art solutions, held more than 150 meetings with representatives of UAE business entities and ministries, and also with companies from Saudi Arabia, China, South Korea, Taiwan, India, Italy and Poland. Joint projects, both on the territory of the Arab Emirates and other countries, were negotiated and agreed.

DEWA’s representatives including Executive Vice President, Dr. Yousif Ibrahim Al Akraf, engineers and heads of various departments, visited stands of the Russian exhibitors. The collective Russian pavilion was also visited by the Chairman of the Board of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry — Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality — Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director of Investment Promotion Department(DubaiEconomy) — Ibrahim Ahli, Director General of Fujairah Free Zone — Sharief Habib Mohamed Al Awadhi, representatives of the UAE business entities. Such questions as prospects for cooperation, joint production in the UAE, promotion of the Russian projects on the Emirates market were discussed during the meetings.

The 6th edition of World Green Economy Summit, organized by WGEO and DEWA, was held under a new theme “Innovative Technologies for a Sustainable Economy”. Russian companies took part in the Summit and discussed sustainable development, international cooperation towards a green economy system and adoption of green innovative solutions. Aleksandr Shadrikov, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Tatarstan, also took part in the Summit, visited WETEX and learned world’s primary industry trends andsolutions in water quality measurement. During his visit to Dubai the Minister visited the Russian collective stand and get acquainted with innovative products of the Russian exhibitors.

The trip to Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park became one of the items of the agenda. The world’s largest single-site Solar Park attracts by its scale and ambitious plans. The park representatives gave a tour and made presentation of the object. Dubai’s clean energy strategy 2050 aims to provide 75% of Dubai’s total power output from clean energy by 2050.Meeting the clean energy objectives requires a capacity of 42,000 MW of clean and renewable energy. Upon completion, the Solar Park will reduce at least 6.5m tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. It is expected to generate 1,000 MW by 2020 and 5,000 MW by 2030.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, the Founder and Chairman of WETEX, said that the park will be able to completely cover the Expo energy needs by 2020. A total of 100% of the energy used during Expo 2020 will derive from renewable sources, thus making the event the most sustainable in history. In 2020 WETEX will be held on 26-28 October within the frames of international exhibition Expo 2020.
